World leaders and members of Washington’s official-dom usually address the National Press Club but today Washington Kastles star Venus Williams wowed the crowd with her candor, charm and humor. Tuesday was the opening day of the Kastles season, and owner Mark Ein was on the dais with Williams, her sister Isha Williams, Sirius XM’s Bob Edwards and Linda Kramer Jenning.
The enchanted crowd included the First Lady’s Chief of Staff Susan Sher, Debra Lee from BET, General Manager of Comcast Sportsnet Rebecca Schulte, Winston Lord, and Jayne Sandman and Kelley McCormick from the Kastles team.
Washington has an unlikely night spot: team tennis in downtown D.C. Kastles CEO Mark Ein hosts tennis great Billie Jean King during Serena Williams debut match while some of Washington’s power players – Larry Summers, Judy Woodruff, Al Hunt, Luke Russert, Michelle Fenty, Debra Lee, and Ray and Nina Benton – look on.
