Named for everyone’s favorite lobbying district, the adaptation of the Off-Broadway play follows a “wunderkind press secretary” with a presidential candidate that’s shooting up in popularity. But then the evil “old guard” of political veterans plot how to take the young upstart out using the usual tricks like affairs, adultery and maybe even the Dean Scream since the play’s basis is the 2004 Howard Dean campaign.

Production, according to Deadline NY, is scheduled for March 2011. That gives everyone plenty of time to remember the DC lovefest that was filming K Street and how George Clooney spent the better part of 2003 charming the cold hearts of DC politicos before he left us.

But just like election cycles, mid-terms and Cosí shops, we know George just can’t stay out of DC.
